Award Programs

Each year at the Annual meeting of the Chapter, two awards may be presented, the Jacksonville ALA President's Circle Award and the Jacksonville ALA Rising Star Award. Also, when possible, a Lifetime Member Award may also be presented sometime during the year. Further information about each award is detailed below:
JaxALA President's Circle Award --
Each February, the Jacksonville Chapter, Association of Legal Administrators (“JaxALA” or “Chapter”) will consider whether to honor a board member with the President’s Circle Award. This award is only given when it is clear that a board member has made outstanding contributions to our Chapter.
A selection committee composed of four members – current President, current Past President, President-Elect and a Past President not currently on the board, will convene once per year to determine if there are any qualified candidates for the award. If there are no deserving candidates, the committee adjourns until the following year.
The following selection criteria are generic in nature and are not intended to be all-inclusive. They are meant to be a guideline for the selection committee in the selection process. Some of the guidelines are subjective in nature.
- Must be a member in good standing of both the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) and Jax ALA. Seven years’ membership in ALA with at least five years or more serving as a significant committee member, committee chair, officer or director.
- An important quality of this award winner is accessibility to other ALA members for assistance in helping develop solutions to problems or alternative ways of accomplishing goals.
- The recipient will have supported ALA-sponsored/supported events such as monthly meetings, seminars, chapter events and regional events and international conferences.
- The recipient will have made significant efforts in promoting legal administrators and ALA to other legal groups and the community at large.
- The recipient provided/gave time and talent above and beyond.
- Consideration should be given to past presidents who continue to play an active role in the Chapter.
- The recipient helped out the Chapter in an emergency situation to meet a specific need (e.g. filing in for a vacated Board position).
- The recipient encourages the fostering of partnerships with legal vendors.
The President’s Circle Award will be presented at the Annual Chapter Meeting held in March.
JaxALA Rising Star Award --
Each February, the Jacksonville Chapter, Association of Legal Administrators (“JaxALA” or Chapter”) will consider whether to honor a non board member with the Rising Star Award. This award is only given when it is clear that a non board member has made a significant contribution as a volunteer on behalf to our Chapter.
The award is open to any JaxALA member volunteer who has not previously received the award and who is not serving as a JaxALA board member (President, President-Elect, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Communication Director or Immediate Past President) at the time of the nomination. Incoming elected officers, prior to taking office on April 1, are eligible.
